Teacher killing revives fear of targeting

The killing of a teacher on the eve of National Teachers' Day has the Confederation of Teachers in the Three Southern Border Provinces worried that insurgents are targeting its members again.

Manot Chadarat, 37, was killed in a drive-by shooting in Muang district in Pattani at 11.30am yesterday.

He was shot three times while riding a motorcycle home from teaching at Pattani Community College, Apiwat Buathong of the Muang district police station said.

Manot was a mathematics teacher at Dechapattanayanukul School in Muang district.
